rated for continuous load

the wire has been carrying more than its specification
since before the current technician was hired
no one has replaced it
it hasn’t been a problem

the test is designed to find the point of failure
you increase the load until something gives
this sample didn’t give
the technician marked the result valid
and moved to the next sample

there is a version of the circuit that has a switch
this one doesn’t
current moves through it or it doesn’t
the circuit doesn’t have a position called waiting

the calibration standard gets checked against itself now
at some point it became the reference
the instrument that was measuring it
is now being measured by it
both readings come back correct

the specification sheet has a column for acceptable range
someone typed the values in 1987
the column for this component
was left without an upper bound
the form just continues
