the roots found me first
before i could ask them to<\/p>\n\n\n\n
something green and old
pulled at the edges of my breath
and said
not yet<\/p>\n\n\n\n
i don\u2019t know how trees talk<\/p>\n\n\n\n
only that they do
in the low hum
behind my ribs<\/p>\n\n\n\n
in the slow creak
of branches that sound
like my own name
said gently<\/p>\n\n\n\n
i am so tired<\/p>\n\n\n\n
but the moss does not rush
and the oak does not explain itself<\/p>\n\n\n\n
it simply
keeps<\/p>\n\n\n\n
maybe that is enough<\/p>\n\n\n\n
to keep<\/p>\n\n\n\n
i am learning
to be rooted in air
to be almost<\/p>\n\n\n\n
and still
the forest knows me<\/p>\n\n\n\n
broken open
and calls it<\/p>\n\n\n\n
beginning<\/p>\n\n\n\n
